Event Description: Kids enjoy learning together and from each other. This camp is planned to both instruct and enrich the younger child in a practical way. This camp experience will lead them through some basic hand sewing such as sewing on a button, mending, learning about tools and keeping them together in a sewing container. We will then move to learn about a sewing machine, some basic stitches and then on to make a pot holder and a small tote. In the cooking department, we will become familiar with measuring cups and spoons, various kitchen tools and how to read a recipe. We will make some simple items, such as no-bake cookies and Bread in a Bag, so they can take it home to rise and bake. You will be given a list of supplies for each day when you register your child for the class. The goal of the entire week is to learn a variety of skills and techniques that can be adapted to other projects and to experience the satisfaction of work completed. Parents will be asked to help with getting ready for the activities, but also allow the students’ choice and and responsibility in their selections so as to feel ownership of the projects. Supplies in the amount of $20 is payable to the instructor at the beginning of the class. A supply list of additional materials will be sent with an estimated cost of $20. Ages 7–10.
