Message from the Board of Directors Chair
Embracing Our Uniqueness for a Flourishing Future
As I begin my two-year term as Chair of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce, I reflect on why I love Madison County Kentucky, why I moved to Richmond, and why I call it home. Madison County is a true reflection of the broader America, and it’s our uniqueness that draws people here.
We have it all in Madison County - two very distinct cities (Richmond and Berea) offering vibrant cultural diversities; two very goal-driven post-secondary institutions (Eastern Kentucky University and Berea College); two growing hospitals (Baptist Health and Saint Joseph); and access to north-south and east-west interstates that make us attractive to businesses, industries, employees, residents, and tourists (we’re only a days’ drive from two-thirds of the continental US via I-75 & I-64). It’s all about location, location, location - but more importantly, it’s all about the people who make that location worth experiencing.
Madison County and Richmond are my home. It’s where I live, attended college, and launched a business. It’s where my children attended academic-driven public schools, and my family built a legacy by graduating from the same university, then each building successful careers. Richmond and Madison County are where we all grow together as a community, striving to build comradery focused on economic development and inspiring a future which continues to flourish and adapt. Our Chamber invites you to join us, engage with us, and proudly witness where we’ll grow from here.
