The submitting member remains responsible for the content and any related claims. Publication by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce does not constitute endorsement of a member, organization, product, service, event, or claim. The Chamber reserves the right to decline, edit, postpone, or remove content that it reasonably determines is inaccurate, unlawful, misleading, defamatory, discriminatory, inappropriate, infringes another party’s rights, promotes a political candidate or campaign, or otherwise conflicts with the Chamber’s mission, policies, communication standards, legal obligations, or nonpartisan role.

Do not alter the colors, proportions, wording, design, or other elements.
Do not use the decal or member logo in a way that implies Chamber endorsement, certification, sponsorship, or partnership.

Celebrate Your Milestone with a Chamber Ribbon Cutting Milestones deserve to be celebrated. Richmond Chamber ribbon cuttings help members mark grand openings, relocations, expansions, and new ownership, while certificates of achievement are issued for significant anniversaries. We look forward to gathering with you, sharing your story, and welcoming the community to celebrate your achievement.
Who may request a Richmond Chamber ribbon cutting? Ribbon cuttings are available to active Richmond Chamber members in good standing. Membership must be active before an event can be scheduled. What occasions are appropriate for a ribbon cutting? Ribbon cuttings are a wonderful way to celebrate a grand opening, soft opening, relocation, expansion, or new ownership. All requests are reviewed and approved by the Chamber.
Why should I host a ribbon cutting? A ribbon cutting gives you the opportunity to celebrate an important milestone, introduce your business or organization to fellow Chamber members and the community, and thank the people who helped you reach this moment. It can bring new people through your doors, create photographs and content to share, and build awareness of your work. Most importantly, it gives our Chamber community an opportunity to show up for you and celebrate your success.
Can the Richmond Chamber co-host a ribbon cutting with another chamber? Absolutely! The Richmond Chamber may coordinate a joint ribbon cutting with another chamber when it is appropriate and approved by each participating organization. Please identify all chambers you would like to include when submitting your request so we can coordinate the date, ceremony, supplies, promotion, and points of contact. Joint events are considered individually and are subject to each chamber's policies, calendar, and availability.
How far in advance should I submit my request? We recommend submitting your request at least four weeks before your preferred date. This gives the Chamber time to coordinate the ceremony and begin promoting the event. Requests submitted with less notice may not be accommodated. Submitting a request does not confirm the event date. Please wait to announce your ribbon cutting until you receive written confirmation from the Chamber.
How is the date and time confirmed? Chamber staff will work with you to identify a date and time that fits the Chamber calendar. Once everything is confirmed, you will receive an email with the event date, Chamber arrival time, ribbon cutting ceremony time, and location. All ribbon cuttings are subject to Chamber approval, staff availability, and the Chamber events and communications calendar.
What does the Chamber provide? Chamber leadership will be delighted to provide the ribbon, ceremonial scissors, and Chamber event coordination. Chamber representatives will also help guide the ceremony and gather participants for the official ribbon cutting.
What should the hosting member provide? The hosting member is responsible for preparing the location and inviting guests. Any refreshments, decorations, entertainment, giveaways, permits, or other special arrangements are optional and are the responsibility of the host. Please make sure the event location is safe, accessible, and ready to welcome guests before the Chamber arrival time.
Who should I invite? The more, the merrier! We encourage you to invite employees, family members, friends, customers, neighboring businesses, and community partners. Personal invitations from the host are one of the best ways to build attendance and make the celebration meaningful.
How will the Chamber promote my ribbon cutting? Once the event details are confirmed, the Chamber will provide a date when marketing is scheduled to begin. Marketing efforts may include:
Registration on the Chamber calendar
Promotion in the Chamber's weekly newsletter
Social media event promotion
Promotion is subject to the Chamber communications calendar, submission deadlines, and available space. While the Chamber will help share the event, attendance and media coverage cannot be guaranteed. Hosts are strongly encouraged to promote the event through their own communication channels.
Will photographs be taken? Chamber representatives will take photographs during the ceremony for possible use on social media, the Chamber website, and other Chamber communications. Please let the Chamber representative know before the ceremony if a participant does not wish to be photographed.
Is there a cost for a ribbon cutting? A standard Chamber ribbon cutting is included as a benefit for active members in good standing. The hosting member is responsible for any additional expenses associated with refreshments, decorations, entertainment, permits, or other optional elements.
What happens after I submit a request? Chamber staff will review your request and contact you regarding availability. Once the date is approved, you will receive a confirmation email with the complete schedule, what to expect, promotional details, and any remaining next steps. What if the event must be postponed or cancelled? Please contact the Chamber as soon as possible if your plans change. The Chamber will work with you to reschedule when possible. Events may also be postponed because of severe weather, safety concerns, emergencies, or other circumstances beyond the Chamber's control.
